Woman shot in front of child during custody dispute outside of Walmart in west Harris County
Around 9:20 p.m., a confrontation between a man, his girlfriend, and the child's mother escalated in the parking lot, resulting in the man's girlfriend being shot in the leg.
A woman was shot in the leg outside of a Walmart on Tuesday in what deputies are calling a child custody dispute.
On Tuesday, around 9:20 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to reports of a shooting in the 6060 block of Fry Road.
Deputies said the shooting happened at a nearby Walmart when a man, his child, and his girlfriend were inside the store. The child’s mother showed up at the same store, and a fight broke out and spilled into the parking lot.
Deputies said the child was inside the vehicle, and the man and his girlfriend were outside the vehicle when someone who was with the child’s mother pulled out a gun, shooting the man’s girlfriend in the leg.
The man and his girlfriend then got inside their vehicle and attempted to leave, but were chased by the child’s mother. The man then crashed his vehicle on Fry Road and Coldfield, and the child’s mother fled the scene.
