SWAT standoff in Houston’s Midtown ends after barricaded suspect taken into custody

A person was taken into custody following a standoff with Houston police SWAT team in Midtown.

Metro Police received a report at 10:59 a.m. of an incident at Ensemble/HCC METRORail platform.

The incident began between two individuals at a nearby store and continued to the platform where the suspect discharged a firearm towards the ground.

The alleged shooter barricaded themself inside an apartment, located in the 4600 block of Main Street.

Initial reports stated that the person barricaded inside a vacant Sears.

HPD is the lead investigative agency, with METRO Police providing support. SWAT arrived on scene to assist with the standoff and the suspect is now in custody.

No injuries have been reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
