1 dead, another injured during wrong-way crash on Katy Freeway at 610

One person is dead and another person is injured after a wrong-way crash on the Katy Freeway on Tuesday morning.

Houston police and firefighters responded to the crash around midnight and found two vehicles on the right shoulder. Officers said one vehicle was on fire, and the second vehicle, a Cybertruck, had the front completely ripped off and was facing the wrong way.

According to reports, the driver of a BMW was traveling the wrong way on the freeway when they crashed head-on with the driver of the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck then crashed into an 18-wheeler, and the driver of the BMW hit the shoulder of the freeway and caught fire.

The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Cypertruck was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Crews worked for hours to clear the freeway, which wasn’t cleared until about 5:45 a.m.
