Houston police say a suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting at an unlicensed club on Ashcroft Drive left one person dead and three injured early Sunday morning.

Authorities identified the suspect as 30-year-old Mainor Omar Matamoros Nataren, who has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Matamoros Nataren is currently hospitalized.

HPD officials said the investigation initially began when two shooting victims arrived at a hospital via private vehicle. Patrol officers checked the area but did not locate additional victims until the later call to the Ashcroft location.

The shooting happened around 6 a.m., following an argument inside the establishment. Investigators say all patrons fled the club after the shooting, leaving two victims behind.

Officers found an unresponsive man in the doorway of the abandoned club, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and another man on the sidewalk, who was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The identity of the deceased, an 18-year-old man, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
