October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and League City has several community events planned to honor victims and support survivors.
The League City Police Department will host a candlelight vigil on Thursday, October 23, at 7 p.m. at 555 W. Walker Street.
The vigil is open to the public and aims to honor victims of domestic violence while raising awareness about the issue. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of hygiene products, which will be given to local domestic violence shelters.
The Savannah Memorial 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, October 26 at Hometown Heroes Park. Now in its fifth year, the event honors Savannah Paschal, a League City resident who was killed in 2020 as a victim of domestic violence. The 5K supports survivors and helps fund resources for those affected.
