‘Customers can’t find us’: Humble salon owner speaks out as FM 1960 construction project drags on 4 years later

A Humble business owner says years of road construction along FM 1960 are driving customers away, and it’s taking a toll on her livelihood.
Linda Pounds, owner of Hair Razors Studios, says the never-ending work outside her salon has made it nearly impossible for some clients to get to her business.
“I’m just tired of the construction. Customers complain. Customers pass up your business. People will call. You get some no-shows because they can’t find you. It’s just ridiculous,” she told KPRC 2 reporter Cathy Hernandez.
Pounds salon has been open for 12 years, but she says the last four have been the hardest.
TxDOT is in the middle of a two-part project to expand FM 1960 from four to six lanes. The work also includes new sidewalks and raised medians.
Segment A stretches from Business FM 1960 to Twigsworth Lane, and is expected to be completed early next year. That portion costs $58.2 million.
Segment B, which runs from Twigsworth Lane to the San Jacinto River, includes a new overpass over Atascocita Road, West Lake Houston Parkway, and Framingham Road. That $70 million phase is expected to wrap up by the end of this year.
Both segments are funded by the state.
Meanwhile, business owners like Pounds are just trying to hang on.
“People complain every day about the traffic,” she said. “That’s all you ever hear. That’s the main topic, the traffic. When’s it going to get better?”
TxDOT says they are working to finish the project on time. For now, everything is still on schedule.
