One person died and three others were injured in an early-morning shooting Sunday in the 6900 block of Ashcroft Drive.
According to Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Cantu, officers first received a call around 5:06 a.m. reporting two people had arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds.
The victims said they were hurt near a location on Rampart Street, identified by police as Caribe.
When officers checked the area, nothing appeared unusual.
At 5:59 a.m., HPD received another call reporting a shooting at the Ashcroft location. Officers found two more victims — one dead and another with life-threatening injuries.
Houston Fire Department crews transported the injured victim to a nearby hospital.
In total, four people were shot: one died at the scene, one remains in critical condition, and two others are in stable condition.
Police said there is no suspect description at this time. At least one person was detained at the scene, and two others were in handcuffs, but HPD has not confirmed any charges or indication of their level of involvement.
Assistant Chief Cantu urged anyone with information to contact HPD Homicide or Crime Stoppers.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
