League City family honors daughter killed in domestic violence incident by helping others in her name
The woman's parents have since created the Savannah Memorial Foundation, which hosts an annual 5K run and walk to raise money for Bay Area Turning Point

She was a young mother from League City who helped families through grief, never realizing her own family would face it in the worst way.
Savannah Kinchen was killed by her husband in 2020.
Now, four years later, her parents are turning their pain into purpose, using Savannah’s story to raise awareness about the rise in domestic violence across Texas and to help others escape it.
According to the Texas Council on Family Violence, 161 Texans were killed by intimate partners last year, including 47 deaths in Harris County, the highest in the state.
For Savannah’s parents, those numbers are personal and a reason to speak out.
Savannah worked as a mortuary technician, comforting grieving families and supporting her community. Her parents describe her as kind, funny, and full of love for those around her.
In 2020, investigators say her husband ambushed her outside her mother’s home.
Since her death, Savannah’s parents have created the Savannah Memorial Foundation, which hosts an annual 5K run and walk to raise money for Bay Area Turning Point, a local shelter that supports victims of domestic violence.
“The money goes to Bay Area Turning Point. They rely totally on grants and donations,” said Shirley Kinchen, Savannah’s mother. “They offer immediate assistance, a safe place to stay, and advocates who help with everything from police reports to court, legal help, and childcare.”
The Savannah Memorial 5K will be held this Sunday at Hometown Heroes Park in League City.
