KPRC 2 has obtained court documents that detail the state of mind of a woman accused of shooting all four of her children early Saturday in Brazoria County.
Oninda Romelus, 31, has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
What happened
Investigators said the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 4:48 a.m. Saturday from a woman saying they needed to respond to the gas station.
When deputies arrived, they found all four children inside the car had been shot.

Sheriff Tommy Stallman said two of the children — a 13-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl — were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two children, an 8-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, were flown by Life Flight to a Houston hospital in critical but stable condition.
Romelus was arrested and booked into the Brazoria County Jail on $14 million bond. She received a $5 million bond for each of the two murder charges and a $2 million bond for each of the aggravated-assault charges.

When deputies arrived at the Oasis gas station, they saw her white car at a pump. Surveillance video shows Romelus pumped $56 worth of gas into her vehicle before deputies approached.
They found the 13-year-old boy lifeless in the passenger seat, and the three other children suffering from gunshot wounds in the back seat, according to records. When Romelus was questioned, investigators said she was alert and aware but “wasn’t making any sense.”
During an interview at the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office jail, Romelus appeared paranoid about her surroundings and repeatedly looked toward the door, records show.
Investigators say Romelus initially told them she “couldn’t talk about it,” then said, “Instead of them doing it to me, I’m gonna do it to them.” When an investigator asked, “Do what?” she responded, “Kill them all,” records show. When asked again why she called 911, Romelus said she did not call 911 but instead “called the devil.”
Records say Romelus repeatedly stated she was “ready to work,” a remark that detectives said did not make sense in context. When questioned about her children’s whereabouts, she reportedly told deputies they were with “the devil,” adding, “They’re dead,” and, “’Cause you can’t take me without me taking you.” She later said her children were “dead to her,” according to the documents.
