Body of missing swimmer recovered in Galveston
A search is underway for a swimmer who went missing at Galveston beach Saturday morning

The body of a swimmer who went missing at Galveston beach on Sunday morning has been recovered.
Chief Austin Kirwin, with Galveston Island Beach Patrol, said they responded to a call at 11:57 a.m. about a missing swimmer in the water at 73rd and Seawall Boulevard.
Galveston Beach Patrol, police department, fire department, EMS, and USCG responded.
Shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday, beachgoers called 911 after spotting the man’s body floating near the 12600 block of FM 3005.
The swimmer has been identified as a 21-year-old man from Richmond, Texas.
“Any loss of life at Galveston Island beaches is one too many,” said Kirwin. “I want to thank the Galveston Police Department, Galveston Fire Department, Galveston EMS and U.S. Coast Guard who helped in search and rescue efforts this weekend. Our prayers are with the family of this young man as they work through this tragic situation.”
