The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is asking a judge to set a $1 million bond for a man accused of child sexual assault.

According to court records, Omar Alanis was arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Oct. 23, on charges of ‘Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Under 10 Years of Age.’

Prosecutors allege that Alanis sexually assaulted a six-month-old baby.

The case documents indicate that the alleged incident occurred on or about Feb. 15 in Harris County. Prosecutors say Alanis was reportedly caught engaging in the alleged abuse by the child’s mother.

In a filing with the court, the State of Texas requested that bond be set at $1,000,000, stating that it should be “sufficient and non-oppressive.”

Alanis is scheduled to appear in court Friday, Oct. 23, for his initial hearing.
