78-year-old man accused of shooting his stepson to death during fight in northeast Harris County
Deputies say a 78-year-old man shot and killed his wife’s son after the son tried to break up a fight between the couple.

An argument with family members turned deadly on Wednesday in northeast Harris County, according to deputies.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man dead in the 13400 block of Ryan Ridge Lane just before 6 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found the 49-year-old man dead from apparent gunshot wounds in the driveway of the home.
Deputies said there were four people in the house during the shooting: an 80-year-old woman, her 78-year-old husband, her son, and their grandchild.
Investigators said the husband and wife got into a physical fight over a door being left open, and when the woman’s son and grandson attempted to stop it, a gun was pulled out, and their son was shot several times.
Investigators believe the husband shot his stepson, the 49-year-old man who died. He has since been detained.
The grandson was transported to the hospital with injuries unrelated to the shooting.
It’s unclear if the husband will face any charges.
