Three teenagers have been arrested and charged a month after a rideshare driver and Marine Veteran was found shot on the side of the road.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said a 15-year-old boy, 14-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old boy, have all been charged in connection with the death of Quoc “Jake” Nguyen, 28.

The 15-year-old is charged with capital murder. Both the 14 and 13-year-old have been charged with tampering with evidence.

Authorities say the suspects allegedly shot Nguyen before taking his belongings and vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The three teenagers have been booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.

What happened?

Nguyen was found on the side of the road in the 13700 block of Lakewood Forest on September 4, 2025. A passing motorist found him around 11 p.m. that night and called 911. The Good Samaritan provided CPR until first responders arrived. They would arrive within five minutes and continued to try and save Nguyen’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined Nguyen had been shot at least one time. They also determined that Nguyen, who lived in the area, was in a vehicle that slowly rolled out of a nearby apartment complex before crashing, leaving visible impressions in the grass. Evidence suggests someone then dragged Nguyen’s body to the location where he was found.

After abandoning Nguyen, someone drove away in the vehicle he had been in, according to investigators.
