Syria declares ceasefire in Druze&majority Sweida city after sectarian violence
Syria’s defence minister declared a ceasefire Tuesday after government troops entered the southern city of Sweida in an effort to quell deadly clashes between Bedouin tribes and Druze armed groups that have killed nearly 100 people, according to the interior ministry. Israel later said it carried out strikes against government forces in Sweida for a second consecutive day, saying it was acting to protect the Druze minority.
