Macron, Starmer agree a ‘new deterrent’ is needed against illegal migration
French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Wednesday discussed the need for a “new deterrent” to tackle illegal migrant crossings of the Channel, the prime minister's office said. On the second day of his UK state visit, Macron promised "tangible results" on "major issues", including boosting European defence cooperation.
