Authorities are responding to the scene of a possible explosion at a high-rise building in Downtown Houston.
The blast reportedly caused a fire that first responders are working to contain. It occurred at 1319 Texas Street near Daikin Park.
The situation was reported as a high-rise fire, but first responders learned that it was a boiler room explosion.
At least five people suffered various degrees of burn injuries, HFD sources at the scene told KPRC 2. They also believe all the injuries occurred inside the building, meaning nobody was injured by falling debris as a result of the blast.
Arson investigators will be out to investigate the cause of the explosion.
Initial reports from HFD said that the explosion was caused by a boiler in the building on the 17th floor of the boiler room. Google Maps indicates that the impacted building is a Holiday Inn Express hotel.
